THE JOB: The NCCS Family Connection Centre serves children, youth, and families in Prince Rupert and the surrounding area. The Child Development Consultant is part of a family-centred, interdisciplinary team supporting children and youth from birth to age 19 who are at risk for developmental delays, have developmental delays, or have a disability.
Reporting to the Developmental Services Team Lead, the consultant supports referral and intake, conducts home and community visits, and works collaboratively with families to identify priorities, set goals, and develop individualized support plans. The role includes parent education and practical strategies to support child development, monitoring progress, connecting families with community services and resources, supporting key transitions and group programs, and collaborating with families, team members, and community partners. The consultant also maintains timely documentation and reporting.
THE CANDIDATE: NCCS is looking for someone who builds respectful relationships with children and families and uses strengths-based, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and family-centred approaches. The successful candidate can work independently and collaboratively with families, colleagues, and community partners.
NCCS requires a motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a field related to child development, social services, nursing, or psychology
- Two years recent related experience with preference for previous experience delivering an Supported Child Development Program or an Aboriginal SCDP
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Core Competencies include:
- Knowledge of child and youth development through age 19, including developmental delays, neurodiversity, and disabilities.
- Ability to support family goal setting, provide parent education, and facilitate groups.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and local supports and services for children and families.
- Strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.

💼 About the Role
The Intake Coordinator is an essential member of the Family Connection Centre team. Reporting to the Developmental Services Team Lead, the Intake Coordinator provides intake and service coordination for parents and caregivers and their children or youth with support needs. In this role, you will:
- Conduct brief screenings and assessments to identify the specific service needs of each child, youth, and family
- Provide information about child development, Family Connection Centre services, and other community resources
- Connect children, youth, and families with relevant services and support smooth transitions between services
- Provide needs-based screening as part of the intake process
- Assist families with appointment reminders, service coordination, needs identification, and advocacy
- Provide parenting skill-building related to parent-child interaction, child development, discipline and guidance, and behaviour management
- Remain connected through regular individual meetings as the family’s consistent point of contact
- Help remove barriers to service by building networks and providing application assistance and information
- Build relationships with community service providers and organizations to improve service integration
- Participate in relevant staff meetings, case conferences, and competency-based professional development

Position Overview
The Building Maintenance Worker performs and/or coordinates maintenance & repairs related to buildings, grounds and equipment, in one or more areas such as electrical, plumbing, painting and grounds-keeping.
Key Duties and responsibilities
- Establishes, monitors, and carries out preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for buildings, equipment and grounds. Ensures building and equipment meet all safety, security and fire regulations and policies. Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to supervisor.
- Performs carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing maintenance and repairs such as repairing furniture, constructing shelves, installing switches, replacing plugs and other basic appliance repairs, applying paint and other finishes, repairing drywall, disassembling and reassembling equipment, replacing sinks and toilets and applying finishing material such as linoleum.
- Coordinates and monitors work performed by contractors, prepares estimates of labour and material costs, contacts external contractors and trades people to obtain quotes and arranges for major repairs and maintenance work.
- Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
- Cleans external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks and parking lots using manual and power brooms, rakes, shovels and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow and other refuse. Performs minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning and watering.
- Completes and maintains related records such as maintenance logs and security incident reports.
- Transports equipment, furniture and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts. Operates a motor vehicle to pick up and move goods and supplies. Arranges furniture for special events.
- Performs other related duties as required.
NCCS requires a motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Grade 10, plus related vocational training such as a building maintenance course.
- Two (2) years recent related experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the employer.
- Valid driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract, and daily access to a vehicle are conditions of employment
- Satisfactory Criminal Record review
- Emergency First Aid is an asset.
