Areas of interest including finance & accounting; human resources; policy development;  non-profit governance & community service; communications & public relations; fundraising, grant writing, or government relations and advocacy & outreach

Area Coverage: Prince Rupert, Masset, Daajing Giids, and surrounding communities in the North Coast Region

Time Commitment: Monthly board meetings (light dinner format), participation in AGM, community engagement events, and committee work as applicable.

Board Member Role & Responsibilities:

As a member of the NCCSS Board of Directors, you will provide:

Governance & Oversight:

  • Contribute to the development and oversight of NCCSS’s strategic goals, financial integrity, and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
  • Approve and monitor the annual budget and organizational policies.

Leadership & Advocacy:

  • Act as an ambassador for NCCSS within your community and professional networks.
  • Represent the Society at public events, community functions, and in relationships with local businesses, government, and partners.
  • Support and promote NCCSS’s Mission and Vision at every opportunity.

Engagement & Contribution:

  • Prepare for and actively participate in monthly board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.
  • Serve on committees or working groups as needed.
  • Offer guidance and expertise in areas such as Finance, HR, Governance, Fundraising or Community Outreach.

  Board Member Expectations:

  • Attend and participate in all board meetings and key Society events.
  • Make a personal commitment of time, expertise, and energy to the Society’s mission.
  • Support fundraising or grant efforts as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality about internal NCCSS matters.
