THE JOB:  NCCS offers a variety of programs and services to children, youth, and families in Prince Rupert and the wider geographic area that includes Haida Gwaii. The Therapy Assistant is responsible for collaborating in the provision of therapeutic services. The therapy assistant will practice under the guidance and direction of clinical professionals.

NCCS requires a motivated individual with the following qualifications:

  • Therapy Assistant Diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children/youth with special needs.
  • Experience working with/under the direction of a therapist.
  • Combination of experience and education deemed acceptable to the employer

Other Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Review
  • Physical ability to meet job requirements
  • Class 5 driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract and daily access to and use of vehicle

Skills & Abilities

  • Maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Knowledge of community resources, such as other healthcare professionals and complementary therapies
  • Sound computer skills, must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong Interpersonal skills to work with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • High level of initiative and adaptability to rapidly changing demands
  • Ability to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pushing, lifting, and transferring using safe body mechanics
